Had tacos tonight. The lettuce was from my fall planting, the tomatoes are nice and ripe, the chives were fresh cut and the taco seasoning was homemade. So tasty!
It's such a joy to walk outside and pick your ingredients for dinner. There is an immense feeling of pleasure and fulfillment to know that I'm eating what my hard work created.
The lettuce was planted about 3 weeks ago. We've had unusually cool nights so the seeds actually sprouted and the lettuce has been growing fast.
In addition to the lettuce I also planted carrots. It'll be interesting to see how big they get before the freeze.
I bought a broccoli plant from my favorite garden center. I'm hoping I'll actually get some heads this fall since I didn't get any this spring. The plants got huge, but never gave me any veggies. Lastly, I planted some sugar snap peas in the potato container. I didn't get any those this spring either Correction, I got one. I think it was just crappy weather this spring. This fall is looking more promising though. Fingers crossed!
