The offense? Stolen strawberries.
Yesterday, on this plant...
were many (at least 5) nearly ripe alpine strawberries. Tonight, there were none. I can not stand by and allow this offense to take place. Alpine strawberries, when fully ripe, are the sweetest of the strawberry family. Sadly, they are also the tiniest. I takes more than one strawberry to satisfy my lust for this treat. Apparently, it takes ALL of them to satisfy His!
So the war has begun. The only thing that worked last year was to cover the plant with a screen dome meant to keep flies off the potato salad at the family picnic. My plant, however, quickly outgrew it's protection however. So, this time, I'm going to have to construct something. I knew it was a good idea to save that pieces from that broken trellis!
I realize that tiny squirrel hands can easily fit through chicken wire, so that may not be part of the plan. I may have to go to Ace and buy some screen material, but what I have in mind is a sort of house, maybe. I'll have to let you know when I've finished it.
